Bug Club: You have a range of levelled fiction, non-fiction and poetry books in your Bug Club library. Remember, wherever you see a bug there is a question waiting to be answered!

 Stage 5: Historical Punishments Reading Comprehension or for an easier text try Stage 4: Humpty Dumpty or Stage 3: Ocean Food Chain. Or, complete all three. 
Day 3:
Read Dogs Detect Covid Better Than Humans and complete the questions.

SPaG - Prepositions 
Day 1:
Time to practise your spellings - words with silent letters. Can you use each one in a sentence? Do you know what they all mean?
Day 2
: Click HERE to access BBC Bitesize to revise,' What is a preposition?'.
Day 3:
Watch the uploaded PowerPoint and complete the activties.
Day 4: 
Complete the uploaded SPaG mat. 
Day 5:

Writing 
Day 1:
Write a set of instructions for something you do everyday like making breakfast - toast for example or cleaning your teeth. 
Day 2:
Research information about your favourite pet animal. What fascinating facts can you find out?
Day 3:
Write a report (like the report we wrote on 'Jellyfish' ) on your chosen animal.
Day 4:
Write Now! Fuzzle. Read the uploaded TASK and write a story. Use the story starter below to help:
Day 5:
Reread your story from yesterday. Edit it by adding more detail like adjectives or speech that moves the action on and then rewrite it for presentation.

Far away from here, in a distant land that few people have heard the name of before (let alone visited), there lives a fuzzle. Well, fuzzles, to be exact. You see, there is a family of them!

Shy and elusive creatures, fuzzles keep themselves to themselves, and therefore are rarely seen by human beings. Their fuzzlets (young fuzzles) are even shyer, but have been spotted occasionally clinging onto their mother’s back.

As you have probably guessed, this is a story all about fuzzles. You are about to find out what extraordinary creatures they really are…

Science
This week we are starting our new science topic - Living Things and Their Habitats. First write down everything you already know about this area of Science.  You can draw diagrams, write explanations or even just list words linked to it.

Retrieval Practice: Living Things Jigsaw ACTIVITY.  Cut out each triangle and match the answers to the questions to construct the jigsaw.   

TASK: Next we are recapping ways of grouping organisms according to their characteristics.Watch the uploaded slide show and think about the different features each group of animals have / share. Use the instructions below  (Challenge A is easier than Challenge B) to design a poster to describe each of the groups of animals and explain their features. Draw a labelled diagram of your animal and label it with its features.

Think:

  • Are my descriptions accurate? 
  • Have I included scientifc language?
