Maths
This week we would like you to look at the maths work from your year group. As usual, please watch the introductory video and then complete the questions from the uploaded worksheet.
Y5 Revision of arithmetic skills

As usual, we have uploaded the answers for this week's activities so you can mark your own. Play the roll of the teacher! You can mark it before sending it to us. We will then have a look at how you have done, and feedback as soon as we are able. We can help with any misconceptions you may have.
Retrieval Practice: Y5 & Y6 arithmetic paper. Remember, if it was a test in school you would have 15 minutes to compete the paper.
Reading
Bug Club: You have a range of levelled fiction, non-fiction and poetry books in your Bug Club library. Remember, wherever you see a bug there is a question waiting to be answered!

Japan reading comprehension:
Read the uploaded inormation text 'Japan' then answer the questions. Choose your level of challenge from * = easy, ** = middle or *** = harder. The answers are uploaded for you.
Reading for pleasure: This week's, 'Author of the Week' in the Virtual Library is Venessa Taylor. CLICK HERE to read her book 'Baller Boys', watch an exclusive video with the author and read a Q&A.
Writing
Day 1: Weekly spellings. Please make sure you understand the meaning of each word.
Y5: Words with an 'or' sound spelt 'or' - for example: forty, category.
Y6: Words with endings which sound like 'shuhl' after a vowel letter - for example: artificial, beneficial.
Day 2: CLICK HERE to learn how to write sentences in both the active and passive voice.
Day 3: Complete the uploaded Book Cover TASK
Day 4: Complete a book review on Kensuke's Kingdom. You can either design your own review or use the uploaded template.
Retrieval Practice: CLICK HERE for activities revising how to write sentences that include modal verbs and adverbs to show degrees of possibility.
PE
Monday: Try and follow this month's uploaded Active calendar.

Geography
Japan: This week we are learning all about the country of Japan. It is linked to the class story we are reading as Kenuske comes from there.
Have a go at the uploaded TASKs:
- Watch the POWERPOINT 'All About Japan'.
- Complete the 'Japan Snapshot' TASK.
- Complete the Japan QUIZ. How many questions will you get correct?
- Try a bit of Japanese origami and make a bird out of paper.
- Compare England to Japan - think carefully about their similarities and differences.
- Try writing in Japanese. Their writing is called calligraphy which means it is drawn with a brush and ink. They use symbols.
- Japanese art: How to draw a Manga character.
- Practise some Japanese greetings.
Continue to use this board to share where you have been in the world. Were you on holiday there? Visiting family? Perhaps you could share a photograph of your favourite memory from there. Please remember to put your name, and your reason for being there.

RE
This week, we will be comparing the similarities and differences between the ways different communities show that they belong.
PSHCE
We will be looking at 'Understanding my feelings' and learning how to recognise when our feelings feel out of control and how to manage the strong emotions. You need to play the POWERPOINT first before completing the TASK.
