Remote learning 2nd November 2020

This weeks' learning:

This week in English Year 2 will be using the Gunpowder Plot and Bonfire Night as a stimulus for writing poetry.
*Read some of the uploaded poetry to see how this can be done.
*Explore the senses by watching the powerpoint of some fireworks and bonfires- think about what you can see, hear, smell, taste and touch by looking at these pictures. Then look at the senses sheet uploaded and see if you have the same ideas or if there are more ideas which you could use.
* Using some of these senses ideas we are going to write a poem. The structure of the poem is uploaded for you to add your ideas into the poem. Copy the openers for each line of the poem and finish the line by writing your own ideas.
e.g The smell of the wood and smoke on the bonfire crackling in the breeze.
* The next task is to learn a little bit about the history of Guy Fawkes. Read through the information and write some facts about the Gunpowder plot.

Read the Gunpowder plot comprehension. Then answer the questions. Choose a 1 star, 2 star or 3 star comprehension to do from this file.
Read your books on Bug club. Don't forget to answer the comprehension questions where you see the bug.

This week we will be looking at words written in the past tense. We will identify past tense words and change words from the past tense into the present tense. Using the worksheets in the files to download, firstly draw out your own table, with the headings 'Past tense' and 'Present tense' and sort the words into the right place on your table. Then work through the questions on the other SPaG sheets by writing down your answers, then look at the answers to see how you did.

This week we will be using a number line to help us add and subtract numbers.
Look at the powerpoints to help you see how the number line is used for adding and subtracting 1 digit numbers. Then have a go at the questions in the files to download.
