Maths

Day 1: Describe position

Day 4: The first quadrant
Day 5: Four quadrants

As usual, we have uploaded the answers for this week's activities so you can mark your own. Play the roll of the teacher! You can mark it before sending it to us. We will then have a look at how you have done, and feedback as soon as we are able.  We can help with any misconceptions you may have.

Retrieval Practice: Y5 & Y6 arithmetic papers. Remember, if it was a test in school you would have 15 minutes to compete the paper.

 

Reading
Day 1: Bug Club. You have a range of levelled fiction, non-fiction and poetry books in your Bug Club library. Remember, wherever you see a bug there is a question waiting to be answered!

Day 2: Reading for enjoyment.  Catch up on current events and politics, alongside news on entertainment, sport and computer games in this week's edition of First News.
Day 3: First News 'Four Stories' Reading Comprehension.
Day 4: Bug Club.
Day 5: Reading Comprehension 'The Raven'.

 

SPaG

Day 1: CLICK HERE to watch the video of Sunstar Starfish then complete the ‘Word Challenge’. 
Day 2: Click on ‘The Grammar Bit’ to revise how to write sentences using subordinating conjunctions.
Day 3: CLICK HERE to watch the video again, and then complete the ‘Whiteboard Challenges’.
Day 4: Complete the uploaded ‘Nature Worksheet’.
Day 5: Time to practise your weekly spellings.
Y5 & Y6 Spellings - Adding verb prefixes 'de-' and 're-'.  Play the uploaded POWERPOINT and then complete the uploaded ACTIVITY.
Y6 Spellings -  Word families based on common words, showing how words are related in form and meaning.

 

Writing 
Day 1:
Write a metaphor poem based on the narrative poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes.
Day 2:
Use the uploaded blank storyboard to illustrate the sequence of events in the poem.  Try to focus on the key events.
Day 3:
Practise retelling the narrative out loud using your storyboard to help you.  Which character are you?
Day 4: 
Create a feelings graph for each of the main characters in the poem: The Highwayman, Bess and Tim the Ostler.

Day 5:
Write the story of The Highwayman from the point of view of one of the characters.  How will you convey your emotions?  How will you decribe the events you did not witness?

 

PE

Continue to take part in 'Beat the Street'.  See how far you can walk, cycle, run, scoot and roll this week.

Music
World Music Day is held each year on 21st June. The Summer Solstice, the day with the most hours of sunlight in the year, also takes place on this date each year.  Play the uploaded POWERPOINT to learn about the History of Music - the different musical styles through the 20th century.

French
What is your favourite hobby? This week, we will be revising hobbies, and your opinion on hobbies.  Go through the uploaded 'Hobbies' POWERPOINT followed by the  'Opinions on hobbies' POWERPOINT and complete the tasks on slides 6 and 7.
