Y5 Geography Investigation

Lesson: Geography

Class: Year Five Year: 2023 - 2024

In Geography, we were investigating the enquiry question, "Why was this road so important two thousand years ago?"

In groups, we examined carefully photographs of a road that was one of the more important roads anywhere in the world. We had to identify and describe the landscape through which the road passes. We considered answers to the following questions:

  • Where in the world might this road be?
  • What was it a road between?
  • What difficulties would people have faced 2000 years ago travelling along this road?
  • How would they have travelled?
  • What form of transport would have been available back then other than walking?
  • Why this road was so important?
  • Why do we have roads today?

'Through respect for all,

learning

in a safe and supportive community, we celebrate our diversity and reach for success in all we do'.
