For this week's reading, there are a variety of activities for you to complete.
Day 1: Complete these 60 seconds reads.
Day 2: This week's, 'Author of the Week' in the Virtual Library is Sally Gardner. CLICK HERE to read / listen to 'Mr Tiger, Betsy and the Blue Moon' (It is only available until Sunday 7th February)
Day 3: The Wexbridge Crier comprehension (Slightly easier)
Day 4: Annie Baba comprehension (Slightly harder)
Day 5: Reading for pleasure - enjoy another issue of First News (enter the code FNLOCKDOWN3)
SPaG
Day 1: Spellings: You have a new set of weekly spellings to practise. You could ask someone at home to test you on Friday. Can you beat / equal your highest score? Don't forget to find the definition for each word.
Hyphens: CLICK HERE to learn about how to use a hypen to clarify meaning. Complete the uploaded 'Use Hyphens To Avoid Ambiguity' activity sheet.
Day 2: Play the Hyphens powerpoint up until it introduces the activity. Complete the uploaded activity identifying where and why hyphens are used in a text, and then complete playing the powerpoint.
Day 3: Can you recognise where a hyphen should be used? Complete the 'Helpful Hyphens' activity sheet.
Day 4: Recap the Hypens powerpoint and then pick one (or more!) 1, 2 or 3 stars activity to compelete.
Day 5: Test your knowledge with these Spelling Quizzes.
Writing
Day 2: Chapter 3 - CLICK HERE to listen to Chapter 3 being read and / or read the uploaded copy, then answer the comprehension questions.
Day 3: Where did Michael and his family travel around the world? Use the information in Chapter 3 to record where they visited. Also, complete the uploaded task.
Day 4: CLICK HERE to listen to the end of Chapter 3 and the beginning of Chapter 4 being read and / or read the uploaded copy. LESSON STARTER Record Michael's thoughts and feelings during this section of the book. Summarise the main events on a story board .
Day 5: LESSON STARTER Use the planning from yesterday to write in role as Michael. Remember to include events before and after falling in the water.
This is a previous child's writing. The tense is a little mixed up,but they do use good examples from the book. Their next step would be to write another paragraph to describe being in the sea. Following that they would need to edit and improve their writing - authors never publish their first drafts!

Friday: Inspired by 'The Great Wave off Kangagawa' by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, use the art skills from the previous art lesson to draw waves. We have uploaded a sheet of waves that you may wish to use as inspiration.
